# Should local people be able to vote down a housing estate?

From [the UKJP’s manifesto](https://ukjp.org.uk/manifesto/), Housing: _A local vote on large developments on green fields, of 500 homes or more… you can say no to the field if you say yes to the brownfield._

Does a local vote protect communities, or guarantee that too few homes get built?

Any position may be argued here, including that the question is framed wrongly.
